What to expect at your first full coaching appointment:
When you arrive for a first coaching appointment, we will spend some time getting to know one another. But - it's more than just a simple conversation. This interview is a chance for you to talk about your goals, your dreams, and your achievements. We'll talk about where you are in your life, how satisfied you are with your life, and where you want to be. This first session will help you clarify your goals, start making an action plan, and hopefully leave you feeling that your goals and dreams are within reach.
Prior to the session, I'll email you a package of materials to fill out. This will include the usual contact information as well as some activities designed to help you decide where to focus your coaching work. When you arrive for your appointment, bring these materials with you as we'll use them to discuss your goals and the changes you wish to make. Once you’ve arrived, I’ll come out of my office to greet you and introduce myself. However, if I’m in a session, I won’t be able to do that right away, but will as soon as possible. When the time arrives for your appointment, I’ll greet you, gather your paperwork and invite you into my office.
After brief introductions and discussion about my office policies, fees, limits of coaching, and confidentiality in coaching, we'll start talking about you - what do YOU want to get out of our work together? To start things off, we'll talk about the different areas in your life and how they interact and affect your ability to set and reach your goals. Together, we will discuss prioritizing areas for focused change. We'll talk about overall goals, and break these down into smaller, "do-able" goals and tasks. Because balance is critically important in having a life you love, we'll talk about how you can find balance in several areas, including priorities/demands, wants/shoulds, and work/personal activities. Creativity, time management, task planning, organization, motivation, and feeling competent are other topics that we may discuss.

At the end of the session, if you decide that coaching is a good fit for you, we'll talk about packages that are available for purchase. Because coaching is different from therapy, coaching may be offered as a package as well as individual sessions. These packages reflect the level of commitment to the change process that you feel is appropriate for your life at this time. We'll also talk about the format that will work best for you and maximize your investment in this process. Some possible options include phone calls, email messages, Zoom sessions or face-to-face sessions. Remember - you are investing in YOURSELF, and I want to do what I can to help you reach your goals and make your dreams come true!
If you leave the first session and decide that coaching is not for you - that's ok! Coaching doesn't work for everyone, and I will certainly respect your decisions. We all have different needs, and coaching may simply not be the best fit for you. If you decide that it's not a good fit, I will offer to help you find resources that might help you meet your goals.
Because coaching is an investment, I do not offer an initial, free full session. However, I do offer a discounted, brief first session, because I realize that it's new and you are likely undecided at that point. Coaching is an investment of time, energy, and resources, and I want to respect both of our investments in this process. Your investment manifests itself in your motivation to change and your willingness to use to the process to bring about that change. I also offer discounted package deals, for those who wish to save money on multiple sessions.
